North of the Straits of Florida, Havana, the largest capital in the Antilles, stretches out before us. It is the city covering the largest area in the whole country and yet it is the smallest province. Havana has been the capital of Cuba since 1553 and is a cosmopolitan city where, essentially, the Spanish and African influences merge. It is a country that possesses an immense wealth of history, culture and tradition. The tourist has different ways of getting to the island, as it is served by three international terminals. One can also enter by sea via the Hemingway and Tarará marinas as well as by the Cruiser Terminal in Havana bay. The city is headquarters to important institutions of international prestige, such as the ballet, Latin American cinema, the guitar and Latin jazz. It was, and is, an inspirational place for musicians and poets in places such as the famous Cabaret Tropicana, the restaurants Floridita and La Bodeguita del Medio; in theatres like García Lorca and Auditorium Amadeo Roldán, the warm beaches in the east of the island and in events centres like the Havana Conventions Palace. Wherever the traveller is, he will be able to find a capital that breathes and exudes joy and culture. The Cuban city possesses important tourist enclaves, such as the Paseo del Prado and Dragones in the heart of the Cuban capital, as well as the National Capitol and Fraternity Park, without forgetting the famous Partagás Tobacco Factory. The city has the biggest hotel infrastructure in the country backed up by the high professionalism of the service and the Hotel Saratoga is perfect for visitors wishing to combine visits to places of historic-cultural interest and the Havana night life.
