Our best recommendation is to take the hotel transfer, which costs $200 USD, or a taxi (approximately $300 USD), since the Cancun airport is 130 km away from the hotel. To arrive by car, you should take Federal Highway 180, a modernised highway with four lanes from Cancun to Playa del Carmen and two wide lanes when travelling from Playa del Carmen to Cancun.

Tulum is a city in the Mexican State of Quintana Roo, and beginning on the 13th March 2008 it will be part of the municipality of Tulum. Located at the southernmost point of the so-called Mayan Riviera, one of the world’s main tourist destinations, the city is found next to the archaeological ruins of the Mayan city from which it received its name, Tulum. What used to be an ancient fortified Mayan commercial port, Tulum is now widely known for being an archaeological area of extreme beauty on the blue-turquoise waters of the Caribbean coast, and has been called one of the wonders of Mexico.
The Mayan Riviera is made up of 120 km of beaches with fine sand and transparent waters; magical places where archaeology is the main attraction. Natural parks, picturesque villages and a large offer of services assure that visitors will not be disappointed. At the southern end of the Riviera is the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, a vast ecological paradise that has remained almost completely intact. Submerged in the depths of the jungle, you find the pre-European city of Cobá, the oldest and most important in north-eastern Yucatán.
Other attractions on the Mayan Riviera are the well-known Playa del Carmen, historic Mayan ruins and ancient walled cities. Also nearby is the city of Cancún, as well as the gorgeous Isla Mujeres and Cozumel Island, with their precious coral reefs ready to be explored. |
