Description

The proximity of the Silken Gran Hotel Domine to the famous Guggenheim Museum, just a few metres away, is one of its most unique characteristics of this cutting-edge hotel, but it is not the only one. Inspired from the concept of comprehensive design developed by prestigious designer Javier Mariscal, the hotel has taken full advantage of its proximity to the museum, resulting in a perfect extension of its spirit and personality.

The hotel’s interior combines spaces and services in excellent equilibrium. At the entrance we find its spectacular Ciprés Fosil, a sculpture piece by Mariscal which rises imposingly to a height of 26 metres from the ground up to the skylight of the terrace, thereby accentuating the hotel’s height.

The reception area, with its sophisticated profile and excellent service, is the entranceway to its 135 guest rooms distributed over 5 floors, including a total of 10 suites. An excellent combination of functionality and aesthetics describes the Domine’s guest rooms.

A high level of personalisation defines the remaining spaces guests must visit. El Mirador, with its unique views of the River and the Guggenheim Museum, boasts a copper awning and rises in an exceptional way over a scene of contrasts between the metallic covering of the museum and the natural greenness of the landscape. El Mirador is a vantage point for visualising, understanding and appreciating the charms of a city undergoing a remarkable process of renovation and where the contrasts between what was and what will be are spectacular.

Defending the consolidated trend of good hotel restaurants, Beltz the black is the name of a minimalist space where imagination and talent offer haute cuisine. The hotel’s restaurant is open every day and enjoys the leadership of gourmet chef Alberto Vélez.

Silken Gran Hotel Domine also offers a setting for connecting the hotel with the city. Splash&Crash is the original name of the hotel’s cocktail bar where red and white, reflections of passion and purity, become the stars of the show evenings and nights on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The hotel also has other prominent services such as its function rooms, a gift shop, a reading room, a café, a Business Centre and a Gym.

GOURMET CLUB

In addition to its exceptional location and its renowned avant-garde architecture, the hotel also has the Beltz the black Restaurant under the management of gourmet chef Alberto Vélez and the consultation of Ramón Berriozabal, national prize-winner for gourmet cuisine.

EVENTS CLUB

The hotel has a large space with capacity for up to 500 people. More intimate spaces may also be created for groups of 20 people. A great capacity to adapt to the needs of any event and a high technology infrastructure define this space where Mariscal’s creative presence is expressed by an original rug designed with an attractive range of reds.

Rooms

Silken Gran Hotel Domine has 135 guest rooms distributed over 5 floors. Each floor has one suite and the rest of them are located on the sixth floor. A personal touch and the desire to differentiate each room are reflected in the tiniest details. With modern equipment like flat-screen TV and audio equipment in executive rooms and suites, spaces created for business travellers’ pleasure and needs are fused with a unique concept of lodging with excellent views from the exterior rooms.

Destination Information: Bilbao
BilbaoBilbao has experienced profound changes during recent years. What was a city with a grey profile, like the works of 19th-century British painters obsessed with the melancholy of the harbour, has yielded to an enthusiastic city open to the world and its trends. The recent remodelling of emblematic buildings of the city, the awakening of the city to its natural resources coexisting inside and looming very close, and the appearance of the Guggenheim Museum phenomenon have revolutionised the flavour and nuances of one of the emblematic cities of northern Spain with a bold personality. In this process, it is also worth mentioning the contribution of the new Sondika Airport, designed by Santiago Calatrava, which transmits Bilbao’s new ambiance from the moment of arrival. A new staging, a quality and varied leisure offer, carefully-prepared gourmet cuisine and the exceptional landscape blending with the city are the main differential values of a destination city that carries the well-understood flavour of its past and is constantly renewed by its new focus and its new players.
