The most emblematic building in the country is the Casa de la Vall (“Valley House”), seat of the Consell de les Valls (Andorran parliament) since 1702. The building has three storeys. On the ground floor is the Justice Chamber, the only court in the country, whilst on the top floor is the Council Chamber, where the Andorran parliament meets. Many cultural events take place in Plaça del Poble, a large public square flanked by the city theatre and music conservatory, and where the locals tend to gather in the evening.
